Explore Programs Contact UsEstablished in 1835 during British rule, Madras Medical College (MMC) is the third oldest medical college in India and the first in Tamil Nadu. It is affiliated with the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University and recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
MMC has been at the forefront of medical advancements in South India. The college campus is located in Park Town, Chennai, adjacent to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH), one of Asia's largest government hospitals with over 3,000 beds, serving as the primary teaching hospital.

The MBBS program at MMC is a 5.5-year course (including one-year compulsory rotating internship) with an annual intake of 250 students. Admission is through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) conducted by the National Testing Agency.
Curriculum: The curriculum follows the Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) pattern prescribed by the NMC, integrating basic sciences with clinical training from the first year.
Eligibility: Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English with minimum 50% marks (40% for reserved categories). Minimum age: 17 years as of December 31 of admission year.
